For the 3rd time since the show’s inception in 2008, The Breakdown with Dave & Audley closed down another fun filled season which featured milestone moments, amazing prizes and some very cool guests. The show keeps getting bigger and bigger each season and this year was no exception.
It’s been a great ride and to give you a bit of an idea of what I’m talking about, here’s a little re-cap.
New Theme Song
We started off the season on a very cool note when our dude, Mic Boogie returned to grace us with more of his vocal wizardry by providing new lyrics for our opening theme song. We took it a step further and made a music video that featured the break dancing skills of Kaze from Simply Swagg Dance Studios and Mic Boogie Jr.
The Toronto Raptors were kind enough to grant us media credentials for a bunch of games this past season and Dave and I with video camera in hand, went to work. We were in a ton a locker rooms this year and the laughs didn’t stop. Check out some of our footage below with Magic, Jazz, and New Orleans players.

At the mid-way point of the season, Dave and I were approached by the folks over at Celtics Late Night Show (CLNS) Radio about joining their newly formed network. You see, they’ve historically been known as a solid source of information for all things Boston Celtics related and they were looking to change that to have more of an NBA focus in general.
It made a lot of sense to Dave and I so we jumped at the chance to be a part of such a talented group of writers and podcasters that were as passionate about the game as us. We’re both proud and honored that we were asked to be a part of such an amazing network.
When we started doing the show in 2008, Dave and I had no idea that it would have blown up in popularity the way it did and we were totally surprised. As part of the growth of the program we decided to change the name from “The NBA Breakdown” to “The Breakdown with Dave & Audley”
It made sense to us for a couple reasons. First off, we knew that by keeping “NBA” in our name, our flexibility would be limited when it came to things like sponsorship and advertising moving forward. This small subtle change was important and made it clear who we are and also ensured that we didn’t get a knock at our front door from David Stern looking for his cut. Check out the official press release here. Another aspect of the name change was a brand new website. We put our old Blogger site to rest and migrated everything over to the one you’re currently on. Man, that was a lot of work!
Reaching 100 episodes was a big milestone for us and we were excited about making it to that plateau because it wasn’t something we put a whole lot of thought into it when we got started. Very cool feeling!
Dave and I are super appreciative of our fans and are always excited at the chance of passing along cool prizes to the people that support us. Once again, our friends at Slam Magazine came through by sponsoring the popular Slam/Breakdown Trivia Challenge and made three of our listeners winners over the course of the season. We also hooked up with our friends at Flip Camera Video and the Toronto Raptors to give away a free flip video camera and a pair of tickets to see Blake Griffin’s first game in Toronto.
We were also happy to present a Raptor ticket discount on home games for the entire season and they’ve already confirmed that they want it to continue for the 2011/2012 season.
The Breakdown Book
Without question, when Dave and I released our quote book. “Basketball Talk, The Way It Should Be!”, it was like the icing on the cake. Our book was a culmination of all the work we’ve done in the last three years and we were excited about finally releasing it to the public. We’re even more proud of the reviews and feedback to this point and we’re excited and pleased that the fans appreciate it.
So that’s it!
Another season in the books. It’s been a fun ride and Dave and I would like to express our many thanks again to our listeners, supporters and fans for a great year.
We’ll see you in season #4!
