As Beck said, Denver NEEDS to get off neutral and push the pedal all the way to the floorboard and TAKE OFF!!! Friday’s game against the Utah Jazz was a tie-breaker game and was of extreme importance, but apparently they never received that memo as they STUNK in Utah. Denver’s performance was PATHETIC, embarrassing, and for this night, Denver was a laughingstock in the NBA.
Let’s get to it: Denver played a full solid quarter and had a 2-point lead at the end of the first. At one point, in the second quarter, they had a five-point lead, but that was as good as it was. Utah took a strategic time out, and Denver, per usual, was pathetic out of that break and whiffed of useless on court production. At the half, though, Denver was *only* down by 8 points, but coming out of the half, Denver was comparable to a slow-moving train wreck. It was HORRID to watch, but I just couldn’t look away.
During the third, Denver was outscored 31-21, and the 4th was just garbage time. Shall we talk about defense?? Oh, I’m sorry. I meant, “shall we talk about the lack of defense?” Denver was allowing OPEN DUNKS! Not to mention, open shots from downtown (perimeter defense has been a HUGE issue all season), open shots from ALL OVER THE FLOOR!! What about turnovers?? Denver had 19!! Yes, 19 BLOODY turnovers!!!
Oh, and Afflalo was ejected. Yeah. Awesomeness.
Jazz came prepared for this game. They were READY knowing this was a MUST WIN, while Denver took the night off. I wonder if they spent their afternoon passing a blunt around, because they looked SMOKED!!
There is a bright side, yes a bright side. I call him JaVale “Goofy” McGee. At the half, he had 10 points on 5-for-5 shooting and 2 blocks. He was throwing a block party tonight, too bad the rest of the Nuggets did not show up. What I love about JaVale is that he plays on BOTH sides of the court and aggressively. Another positive?? H-U-S-T-L-E!!
George Karl doesn’t get off the hook, either. It IS his job as the head coach to INSPIRE this team, while he can’t shoot for them or guard for them, he can give them the proper tools to succeed in games. Also, known as having the BEST OF THE BEST out on the court at ALL TIMES!!!
6 games left in this road trip, Denver needs to get their ducks lined up in a row.
No matter how many times Denver is knocked down, they need to get back up again…
