How’s it going WORLD?!
Like you, I’ve been watching the drawn out and overplayed Dwight Howard saga for months. Finally, thanks to a 4-team trade, the former Orlando Magic all-star center has found a new home.
Personally, I think it’s terrible for one star to hold a franchise hostage, keep other players and their families in limbo while a deal is worked out.
No athlete should have that kind of power.
Just play the game through your team’s good and bad times. Make your millions and honor your contract. When your free agency time arrives then go anywhere you’d like.
As you know, not every NBA star bails on his club.
Anyway, does Howard’s behavior shock me?
No. I’ve seen this story before in professional sports.
Bring out the Kleenex.
I’m a Howard fan, but this whole mess has obviously tarnished his good guy image. I don’t think he realizes he’s widened the Grand Canyon-like gap between fans and players even more.
The average fan already thinks most professional athletes are overpaid big babies, so D-12 isn’t helping his cause.
Regardless, Superman The Sequel is off to Hollywood where he hopes to be as successful as the original.
It’ll be tough to walk in that shadow.
Even though I’m disappointed with D-12′s behavior, I’m still intrigued to see how he and the Lakers will perform this season. There’s no doubt they’re a talented squad, but that doesn’t guarantee a title.
