Are you ready to hitch a ride to Las Vegas?
This guy is…
That’s right! Your boy, Houston Rockets forward, Chase Budinger will join more than 40 other NBA players (including John Wall, Zach Randolph, Chauncey Billups, Stephen Jackson & Jermaine O’Neal) who will play in a two week tournament called the Impact Basketball Competitive Training Series or you can just call it “The Lockout League”.
This tournament will run daily from September 12th to September 23rd at the Impact Basketball gymnasium in Sin City. According to organizers, it was put together to keep NBA players in shape during the lockout.
Here are some of the highlights:
-As many as eight teams featuring seven or eight players each
-Teams will be assembled with an eye toward parity and with an emphasis on keeping NBA teammates together
-Games will be officiated and played under NBA rules, but with only 10-minute quarters
-The series will end with two days of playoffs then with a championship game on Sept. 23
-The plan is to sell tickets (about 500 a day, with proceeds donated to charity) and to stream the games live on the Internet
Apparently, if everything works out, they’ll be another Lockout League series in October.
Personally, I’ve been enjoying all of these star-studded exhibition games that have been going on. It’s great to see NBA talent on display. I miss it. Obviously, I’d love for the NBA to return ASAP, but if I were to choose this type of ball or no ball then I’ll take this stuff for now.
In regards to the Lockout League, this is a special message to Chase Budinger.
“My friend, LIGHT IT UP! I hope you drop 40 every night. I believe in you man. Let it RAIN!”
Can you say MVP?
Alright, what are your thoughts on the Lockout League?
